Tamiami Trail Rally

The opening of the Tamiami Trail in 1928, a milestone event in Collier County’s
history, is brought back to life each year with this special commemorative
event at the Museum of the Everglades in Everglades City.
Presented each year in April, a motorcade of antique automobiles retraces
Barron Collier’s original route from Naples to Everglades City, the original
County seat, to officially “re-open” the historic highway. Costumed
reenactors, special displays and story telling by local residents add to the
fun. The event also coincides with the Museum of the Everglades’ annual
birthday party, hosted by the Friends of the Museum of the Everglades. |
