Florida Archaeology Day

Ancient artifacts and shell tools made by the Calusa Indians centuries ago,
tell of a long-vanished civilization that once ruled the southern tip of Florida
from coast to coast. Dig up more facts on these fascinating people each March,
when the Southwest Florida Archaeological Society presents Florida Archaeology
Day at the Collier County Museum in Naples.
The free, day-long program features a recreated Calusa camp, outdoor demonstrations
of early pottery and tool making, educational exhibits, slide programs, noted
guest speakers, and special children’s activities to help understand
and appreciate the daily lives of Florida’s first peoples and cultures. |
