Taste of Collier - Overview The Taste of Collier, a long-standing Naples tradition, is an afternoon of family fun featuring live performances by area bands, the crowd-pleasing Waiter/Waitress games, an ice-carving contest, and of course, lots of wonderful food! Held each year on the first Sunday in May, the Taste is the FRA/Collier County Chapter’s way of saying thanks to the community while raising monies for local charitable organizations. Join in an afternoon of fabulous food and family fun! The Taste is open from noon to 4 p.m. In the event's history, over $540,000 has been raised for local charities. Bon apetit!
Taste of Collier - History Many years ago, the Collier County Chapter of the Florida Restaurant Association decided to host an event that would express gratitude for the twelve-month residents that patronize the restaurants. The first event was very well received and intrigued the "then" Taste of Collier Board members. They decided for the second year event they would name a local non-profit organization as the recipient of funds raised at the event, thus giving even more back to the Collier Community
Many years later, many local charities have shared in over $540,000 raised during the Taste of Collier events. These non-profit organizations included Mental Health Association, MS Home, READ of Southwest Florida, POLO Club, and ROTC.
The Taste of Collier event also has given the Restaurant Association an avenue to sponsor the arts, here in Collier County. Local high school art students provide the Taste of Collier artwork found on each year's posters and tee shirts. Each Fall the local high school art departments are given the opportunity to compete for the first place honor. The First Place art is then used for that year's event.
Taste of Collier also contributes to local culinary programs, giving them booths at the event and offers culinary scholarships.
