-    Nature’s cutest cow, the manatee

Also learn about the fascinating history of the Caloosahatchee River and the exploits of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, who spent many winters at this estate in Ft Myers. Edison conducted many interesting scientific experiments and his science lab remains to this day.

The morning temperature was cool but with the promise of the day heating up later in the morning. As we headed out of the berth at The Edison Ford Marina, we could see Pinchers staff busy setting up their dining area. The Edison Explorer entered into the river channel and it wasn’t long before we were joined by a dolphin. Further on we visited numerous mangrove areas with tons of birdlife. Beautiful white cranes, egrets and even a Bald Eagle sitting in its roost on a dead White Pine. All along the way the Certified Naturalist and Historian explained everything to us and answered all of our questions.  It was fascinating learning about the old Semiole Bridge. Our day was completed with the sighting of two Manatee. People come from all over the world to see this animal. Thank you Pure Fort Myers for this wonderful experience.

My husband had suggested that we have an early dinner at Pinchers and then surprised me with the suggestion that we do the Ft Myers Sunset Cruise . It was a beautiful evening and so we headed to the ticket office and then to the Edison Explorer.  We purchased a glass of wine each and settled back to enjoy the cruise.  It was beautiful to watch the colors along the river change as they were reflected from the sky when the sun began to set. The bird life appeared to be heading home to roost but a few dolphins appeared as escorts as we returned to the dock. What a wonderful way to end our day!

What a great Hen Party on board the Edison Explorer!!!  It was perfect!  I was a bit nervous at just what my bridesmaids were up to when they blindfolded me and took me to I didn’t know where - but I could hear the birds and water sloshing. When I took off the “Bridal Mask”, I could not believe that they had organized this! We climbed on board and the food was wonderful - all of my fave things like coconut shrimp and Cake pops and Lemon Drop Martinis, already made up and ready to pour. We had the boat for 2 hours and it was perfect. THANK YOU PURE FORT MYERS! (And Captain Marty for discreetly not paying any attention to us after he gave us the safety information - he was great

The Julian team came to SW Florida from far off New Zealand bringing with them 40 years of a unique combination of maritime history and tourism along with a well-developed dedication to the preservation and sustainability of nature’s resources. Film work with their Marine Team International has taken them far and wide through the waterways, lakes, rivers, oceans and seas of the world. They have seen firsthand the demise of underwater life and coral reefs through man’s innocent lack of care and its damaging effects.

Captain Lance has taken his knowledge and experience from generations of the tug and barge industry to fast ferries and film set locations around the world. Son, Harry began with fast ferries and tourism following on with education in his chosen field of Maritime Industry . Through modern technology and development he brings experience from all manner of vessel training and business education to the elements that this company provides for tourism today. The Julian Team is a culmination of maritime history, growth, knowledge and a deep respect for variety of waters around the world of which they have experienced and specifically in SW Florida.
